Project information

  • Category: Web App
  • Client: Redburn
  • Project date: 2019

Background

Redburn's established methodology for pricing research was managed through spreadsheets accessible by the CRM and pricing teams. However, they required a new pricing system that supported both retrospective and future client negotiations, enabling historical charges and pricing changes review.

Problem

Creating a user friendly and intuitive, easy to learn to learn system is not easy, beside we should not forget the technical limitation (used framework, speed, etc...).

Research

I needed a detailed business analysis and gather business and user needs to understand the requirements of the project. Analysing the needs, abilities helped me to be a user's advocate. The busniess owners and stakeholders and employess were my target group.

Goals

  • - Increase productivity
  • - Transparent layout what is easy to use
  • - Keep users happy
  • - Informed decision making

Target: Users

We must define what users can do with the system. It was necessary to outline the steps and highlight the most significant or common functions. It was also necessary to construct the information architecture and navigation. We need to figure out how to organize the information so that users can discover it easily. We needed to create a hierarchical structure that corresponded to the logical grouping as well.

Supporting Users

Using a design system aids the user in determining the functions of the page elements. It allows the user to feel more at ease and familiar with the system while using it. One of the most crucial aspects of the work is the use of consistent elements. This consistency applies not only to graphical aspects but also to text and words. We must utilize the same visual and textual language to assist users throughout the project.

Technical Limitation

We shouldn't forget at the system design the technical questions, like how big a database we have, how many data points have to be shown at once, and what are the most important data/information from the database. Another important technical limitation was the screen size and resolution of the screens. We had to optimize the screens for the employees' desktop computers' displays.

Outcome

The new company-wide pricing system, which has been rolled out to the CRM team, has received impressive feedback for its accurate methodology and calculations, its look and feel, and its speed.

Delivering a financial software that people want and can use needs a high-quality user experience, and it is important to know what people want to achieve day by day.
